the MESSAGE

THE MESSAGE . . . THE CORRESPONDENCE

HOW YOU COMMUNICATE THROUGH WRITING IS A DIRECT REFLECTION OF YOURSELF SO CHOOSE YOUR WORDS WISELY, GRASSHOPPER.

MESSAGE:

  • A VERBAL, WRITTEN, OR RECORDED COMMUNICATION SENT TO OR LEFT FOR A RECIPIENT WHO CANNOT BE CONTACTED DIRECTLY.

CORRESPONDENCE:

  • THE ACTIVITY OF WRITING LETTERS AND/OR POSTCARDS TO SOMEONE.  THE LETTERS AND/OR POSTCARDS THAT PEOPLE WRITE TO EACH OTHER.

EFFECTIVE CORRESPONDENCE GENERALLY FOLLOWS THESE GUIDELINES:

  • THE FIRST SENTENCE SHOULD GET RIGHT TO THE POINT. DO NOT RAMBLE.

  • USE SHORT AND CONCISE SENTENCES TO EXPRESS YOUR IDEAS.

  • TONE IS VERY IMPORTANT. CORRESPONDENCE IS EASY TO MISINTERPRET SO USE SIMPLE AND STRAIGHTFORWARD LANGUAGE, AVOID SLANG.

  • BE AWARE OF YOUR/THE AUDIENCE.

POSTCARDS ARE UNIQUE, IN THAT THEY ARE FULLY EXPOSED.  TODAY, EVERYONE IS CONCERNED ABOUT PRIVACY. THE MAJORITY OF POSTCARD CORRESPONDENCE IS PRETTY PEDESTRIAN STUFF.  SO, FINDING A CARD WITH QUALITY CORRESPONDENCE IS A GOOD FIND INDEED.  "HI GRANDMA, THANK YOU FOR THE POSTCARD YOU SENT ME" IS ALL WELL AND FINE.  HOWEVER, "COME WITH ME, MY DARLING ANGEL, TOGETHER WE SHALL . . ." HAS MUCH MORE INTRIGUE AND APPEAL.

HERE'S A FEW WE FOUND.  MORE TO COME.

THIS IS A MANUAL SLIDESHOW - USE THE ARROWS TO SCROLL.
